Welcome to the CWF Fall Meeting 2025 – “Seedling to Success”

Join us for two days of networking, High Production Forestry presentations and Field Tours as we explore the path from reforestation to a thriving forest sector. This year’s theme, “Seedling to Success,” highlights innovations, challenges, and opportunities across the full value chain.

We look forward to seeing you this Fall in Truro!

Over the course of this two-day conference, our focus will be on building meaningful connections and sharing practical knowledge to enhance our collective understanding of key operational aspects of High Production Forestry (HPF). Through a mix of formal presentations and in-field demonstrations, we’ll examine leading-edge practices that drive successful HPF implementation. Topics will range from site selection and intensive silviculture planning to the importance of treatment timing, operational specifications for successful plantation establishment, and effective stand tending—all critical elements for delivering sustainable, high-yield forestry.

What is a High Production Forestry Management Zone?

The High Production Forestry (HPF) management zone is one of three distinct management zones within the Triad model of ecological forestry adopted in Nova Scotia. It is designed to support the long-term, sustainable production of timber forest products. This is achieved by implementing intensive, state-of-the-art silvicultural practices aimed at maximizing timber yields while maintaining ecological integrity. By concentrating timber production in designated areas, the HPF zone helps balance economic, ecological, and conservation objectives across the broader forested landscape.
